New Life Family Health is a startup nonprofit, multicultural integrated health clinic serving immigrants, refugees, and low-income families in the Grand Rapids area. Founded and led by immigrants, our mission is to bridge disparities in mental health and primary care access caused by culture, income, trauma, and systemic barriers. We provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed care grounded in compassion and dignity.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Psychiatric Physician Assistant (PA)who brings both clinical expertise and a pioneer spirit. This role is ideal for a clinician who is energized by building something meaningful from the ground up, enjoys autonomy, and is motivated by mission-driven community service.
As one of the early clinical leaders on our team, you will help shape our mental health program and guide our approach to multicultural, whole-person care.
Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and follow-up care for children, adolescents, and adults (based on your scope/comfort).
- Deliver culturally sensitive, trauma-informed care to diverse immigrant, refugee, and underserved populations.
- Collaborate with therapists, primary care providers, and care coordinators in an integrated care setting.
- Participate in care-team huddles, staff meetings, and quality initiatives.
- Help develop workflows, best practices, and care models for a growing startup clinic.
- Maintain thorough and accurate clinical documentation in the EHR.
- Support community outreach and mental health education as needed.
Qualifications
- Licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in the State of Michigan.
- DEA license (or eligibility).
- Experience working with multicultural or underserved populations strongly preferred.
- Strong commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and contribute to program development.
- Flexible, collaborative, and comfortable in a startup environment.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus (not required).
